I have a 1.5 FW PSP right now With a 1 Gig Memory stick. This is the second most vulnerable PSP Firmware Behind The original JAP 1.0 . Anyway. For those that dont know. PSP is full of hackers who are looking for a new way to find exploits in the firmware Versions that come out.Why? there are many reasons. Mainly for utilizing Homebrew(home made)Programs wich can include anything from completely new programs,Video players, Emulators to old Systems(snes,nes,sega,gameboy and with n64 in development), but the main thing that many use it for is for running ISO's of Actual PSP Games off of your memory stick. Ever since Sony Realized that this was going on they have released firmware after firmware to try and trick (or convince) people unto updating and therefor blocking exploits and Homebrew.
1.5 was exploited using the Kxploit. Dont ask me how it works but it does.
-----Sony Released 1.51 then 1.52
-----Sony Released 2.0 wich added AVC Video Support and an Internet Browser. This conviced some users to update.
2.0 was hacked using the TIFF exploit wich allowed users to get partial Homebrew Access(but not KERNEL access wich is used to play ISO's)
-A 2.0 to 1.5 downgrader game of this though

-----Rockstar Releases Grand Theft Auto:Liberty City Stories.

2.5 and 2.6 are hacked Sort of unintentially By Edison Carter as he created A cheat Device for GTA:LCS.
A PSP Developer by the name of Fanjita(noobz.eu) developed a homebrew Launcher Via GTALCS.(but again with out kernel/ISO support)
-----Sony Releases 2.7 wich adds new features . among those FLASH support.
-Undiluted platinum ModChip Announced; this mod chip would allow you too use custom firware and/or have multiple firmware versions on 1 psp.
New Exploit Via GTA:LCS( from pspupdates.com since i know nothing about it really)
"2.XX kernel access - So you don’t want to spend $90 on a modchip. Or you can’t possibly comprehend how the whole soldering thing works. Fret not! Hitchhikr and Neural (a group) have practically busted open into the 2.XX kernel functionality. And this was just 2 days ago!
Right now, there’s no practical use of the exploit. But for developers, it offers the same depth of functionality which they’ve been programming in for the earlier firmwares. And there’s already been a flurry of activity. Fanjita is currently checking out the depths he can go to using the exploit. And who knows, MPH or Edison Carter might come out with another bombshell any time. We can certainly hope for some exciting time because of this latest exploit."
This exploit is in its experimental times with some developers trying to find a way to downgrade to 1.5 from it.
Almost forgot to mention that rockstar has released a patched version of GTALCS . So if you want to us it for homebrew. make sure u can try it first. If under the game section.
